“A modern transcript” is noted in the record themselves (as they older records were copies by the then Parish Priest in the 1920s, {for some reason} and it is not clear if the older records remained or were destroyed, as some records from the Parish DO go back to the 1760s, but they are usually listed in Castleconner, Co. Mayo (near Ballina).
ONE SHOULD CONSULT THE KILMACTIGUE PARISH AREA HISTORY. OVER TIME RECORDS WERE CREATED AND KEPT AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS (AND WHEN NEW DIOCESES WERE CREATED, NEW RECORDS WERE STARTED).
