Ox Mountains, Western Way (and Vicinity).

Ox Mountains and Western Way (and Vicinity).

The “Western Way”  is a walking path through the “common areas” of the Ox Mountains (or Large Hill, really), and it is above or near Kilmacteige Parish – roughly running from Tubbercurry to (the Low Road and High Road) to Aclare , then heading towards Ballina  — no roads exist at these elevations, (except those noted) and through the Windy Gap .

Be careful, and plan for the worst- hope for the best if you trek the area, as Ireland is wet and can often rain daily, with no warning (even with the Sun Shining bright) so plain for all eventualities.
