Back in the 1800s Ireland’s Courts were a mix of what were called “Petty Sessions” and “Quarter Sessions” and Petty Sessions were held weekly, every two-weeks (fortnightly) or monthly depending on the needs of the local community – in other words the amount of people Charged with Offenses.
